Chairman 

Momodu Kassim-Momodu, Chairman, was a Senior Lecturer Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, University of Lagos, Lagos-Nigeria until 1987 when he was head-hunted by Gulf Oil Company Nigeria Limited (now Chevron Nigeria Limited). He worked for the company in Nigeria, United States of America, and the United Kingdom for twenty years before re-joining the law firm he established in 1984 when he was still with the University of Lagos. 

 

From March 1981 to September 1983 he served as a Special Assistant on Legal Matters to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (on secondment from University of Lagos), and was during that time the Secretary of the Legal Advisory Committee in the Office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

 

In 1990, the Lagos State University invited him, to design, introduce and teach Oil and Gas Law in the final year class of the university’s Faculty of Law, as an Adjunct Professor of Law (He did it pro bono from 1990 to 1992) while still a senior management staff of Chevron Nigeria Limited. He is the pioneer and current editor of Petroleum Technology Development Journal, an international petroleum journal he co-founded in 1999 (initial title was Petroleum Training Journal). Petroleum Technology Development Fund is the publisher of the journal. In academic research and practice, he has sustained his special interest in Oil and Gas Law, Extradition Law, Humanitarian and Human Rights Law, Jurisprudence and Legal Theory, Public International Law, Arbitration, Mediation, Organizational Development, Human Resource Planning, and Performance Management. 

 

Dr. Kassim-Momodu served as a member of the Presidential Visitation Panel to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria February to March 2011.He has published articles and book chapters in Nigeria, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Switzerland on topics in Oil and Gas Law, Public International Law, Extradition, Commercial Law, Constitutional Law, Arbitration, Land Use,Technology Development and Transfer of Technology, Human Resources Management, and the Electoral Processin Nigeria.

 

Books he authored and edited include Compendium of Nigerian Extradition Law and Practice,(Edited for the UN) 2016 United Nations Organization, New York; Glossary of Petroleum Industry Terms(Author)2007 PTJ Lagos; Questions and Answers: General Principles of Law,(Co-author with Olaide Adigun) 1994 Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria; Rural Populace and Politics in Nigeria (Editor)1987 and reprinted in 2016 Ritesteps Publishers, Lagos; Enforcement of Human Rights(Editor)1986 and reprinted in 2016 Ritesteps Publishers, Lagos.He was the National Chairperson and Chairman Board of Trustees, Amnesty International, Nigerian Section 1991–1994, and member of Amnesty International Secretariat’s Section Development Committee from 1992-1995. He is a member of Rotary International and was the Chairperson of Rotary Club of Canary Wharf, London from 2014-2015. He is the current Chairman of the Foundation Committee Rotary Club of Canary Wharf London. Dr. Momodu Kassim-Momodu is a co-founder and Trustee of Mofeus Foundation. He is a member of Britain-Nigeria Education Trust, London, and Life Member Nigeria-Britain Association. He is married with children and grandchildren.
