Oladayo Olaide

Director 

Oladayo Olaide, Director, is the Deputy Country Director of MacArthur Foundation in Nigeria. He is a seasoned international development professional and Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years of experience in project management, budgeting and financial reporting, policy analysis, capacity building and monitoring and evaluation, advocacy spanning extractive industries, revenue transparency and anti-corruption, democracy and governance in Nigeria and West Africa. In the period, Dayo worked variously as Regional Economic Governance Manager, Nigeria Country Manager, Project Coordinator and Project accountant for the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA).Dayo led the Nigeria Country office of OSIWA for two years and three months, during which he managed strategy development, definition of project interventions and administration of the country budgets, managing human resources (including performance evaluation), and conducting monitoring and evaluation for the country grant portfolio. 

 

Mr. Olaide led several advocacy meetings to inform and frame international response to the threats of electoral violence and conflict in Nigeria in 2011, and many high-level discussions to mobilize international response to corruption and impunity in Nigeria.Dayo has worked with civil society, government and media to promote transparency and accountability in many fragile states including Nigeria, Niger, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Chad and has travelled extensively throughout the region. In the period, he met with various stakeholders at policy level and rural communities. The interactions have sharpened his knowledge of the political economy and socio-cultural dynamics and change process in West Africa.  Prior to joining MacArthur Foundation, Dayo worked for the British Council, Abuja, as Output Manager (Economic and Natural Resources) for the Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Program (NSRP), a five-year initiative to mitigate drivers of conflict in Nigeria. Dayo received a Master of Arts in Development Studies majoring in Public Policy and Management from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands. He received a Master in Business Administration degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ogun state, Nigeria and a Higher Diploma from the Lagos State Polytechnic in Lagos, Nigeria. He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
